Why Invisalign
is Perfect for Adults

Invisalign is the preferred orthodontic treatment for many adults due to its precise, removable aligners that blend into your lifestyle. Here’s why Invisalign is an ideal choice for adult orthodontics:

  1. Aesthetic Appeal
Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible, allowing you to straighten your teeth without drawing attention. Adults who want to maintain a professional appearance at work or during social events will find this beneficial.

  2. Convenience and Hygiene
The aligners are removable, so you can take them out to eat, drink, brush, and floss. This flexibility means you won’t have to change your diet or worry about food getting stuck in braces.

  3. Comfort
Invisalign aligners use smooth, BPA-free plastic, which means they are comfortable to wear and less likely to irritate compared to metal braces.

  4. Shorter Treatment Times
In many cases, Invisalign can achieve results faster than traditional braces. Depending on the complexity of your case, treatment can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months.

Comparing Invisalign
to Traditional Braces for Adults

How Invisalign Works:
The Process From Start to Finish

Invisalign uses advanced 3D imaging technology to create a precise treatment plan tailored to your needs. Here’s how the process works:

Custom Treatment Plan:
Dr. Joseph Phillips will collect digital X-rays, 3D scans, and photos during your initial consultation to create your custom treatment plan. This model allows Dr. Phillips to map out the exact movements of your teeth throughout the treatment.

Series of Aligners:
Each custom aligner differs in shape slightly, gradually moving your teeth into their desired positions. You’ll switch to a new aligner every one to two weeks and visit our office every six to twelve weeks.

Refinement:
You may need additional aligners to achieve the final result, depending on your treatment plan. This process is called refinement. These additional aligners are necessary because studies show that depending on the movement’s complexity, your teeth may only move between 60-90% of what the aligners are programmed to deliver.

Graduation:
Your close collaboration with Dr. Phillips will determine when treatment is complete. We collect final records and digital scans; a retainer worn at night will maintain your new, beautiful smile. This graduation is always a cause for celebration.

Maintaining Oral Hygiene
with Invisalign

Keeping your teeth and aligners clean is crucial during Invisalign treatment to prevent undesired side effects like gum disease or cavities. Here’s how you can maintain excellent oral hygiene:

  1. Brushing and Flossing:
Brush your teeth after every meal and floss daily to prevent plaque buildup. It’s essential to clean your teeth before putting your aligners back in to avoid trapping food particles.

  2. Cleaning Your Aligners:
Clean your aligners daily using a soft toothbrush and clear, anti-bacterial soap (non-abrasive). Avoid using toothpaste, as it can scratch the aligners.

  3. Regular Dental Check-Ups:
Regularly visit your dentist for cleanings and check-ups to ensure your teeth and gums remain healthy throughout your treatment.

  4. Be Aware of Your Diet
Only drink water when the aligners are in, and remove them whenever you consume any other food or drink. With Invisalign treatment, strong-colored foods and beverages may stain teeth or attachments easily.
